As a result of this classification any used lighters that are sent via Royal Mail services could be returned or destroyed. We would strongly recommend that all lighters that are returned for repair should be sent via a courier company.

We know that behind every Zippo product sent for repair is an owner depending on our promise to get it back in working order.

Whether a lighter is five years, 25 years, or 50 years old, it will serve as a dependable source of flame for years to come. We guarantee it.

Note: Please do not attempt to perform repairs yourself as it could damage the Zippo product beyond repair.

Note: Repairs take approximately 6-8 weeks, once repaired your Zippo product will be sent back to you.

Note: Repaired Zippo products are sent back (free of charge) using a Packet Post Service, should you wish to insure your return package, also enclose a cheque for £8.50 made payable to Zippo UK Ltd.


Follow these easy steps to return your product for repair:

STEP: 1 Some products require preparation before you ship them.


  • Remove the inside unit from the lighter.
  • Allow all fuel to evaporate.
  • Replace inside unit in lighter case.

*Please note: Lighter inside units (inserts) are not repaired. Normal repair procedure is to replace the original insert with a brand new insert. The original will not be returned unless stated on the repair form or a note provided.



  • Take lighter outside and discharge gas following the instructions that came with your lighter.


  • Allow all fuel to evaporate.

STEP: 2 Package your item securely along with the necessary paperwork

Package your lighter securely in a jiffy bag or padded envelope

  • For ONLY the following products, please enclose £5 for repair:
    • Utility Lighters
    • Candle Lighters

Note: You do NOT need to enclose money for the repair of any pocket lighters with a flip top.

  • Include a copy of your sales receipt as proof of  purchase with your package for the following  products:
    • Utility Lighters
    • Candle Lighters
    • Hand Warmers
    • Fire Starters

STEP: 3 Send It!

Note: A maximum of six lighters can be sent in for repair at any one time
