Caring for Your Windproof Lighter

Please note: The Royal Mail have adopted regulations which classify used lighters as dangerous goods. As a result of this classification any lighters that are sent via Royal Mail services could be returned or destroyed. Zippo UK are working to seek a reclassification of our lighters allowing them to be transported by the Royal Mail.

Until the situation with Royal Mail has been fully resolved we would strongly recommend that all lighters that are returned for repair should be sent via a courier company.

In the unlikely event that your Zippo product needs repairing follow the repair instructions for your particular product below prior to sending any product to us.

We don't make that promise lightly. We know that behind every Zippo product sent for repair is an owner depending on our promise to get it back in working order. Whether a lighter is five years, 25 years, or 50 years old, it will serve as a dependable source of flame for years to come. We guarantee it.

Note: Please do not attempt to perform repairs yourself as it could damage the lighter beyond repair.

Your lighter will be repaired at no charge and returned promptly to you in approximately 6-8 weeks from receipt.

Follow these easy steps to return your product for repair:

STEP #1

  • Prepare your lighter for shipment.
  • Remove the inside unit from the lighter.
  • Allow all fuel to evaporate.
  • Replace inside unit in lighter case.

STEP #2

Package your lighter securely in a jiffy bag or padded envelope

Note: Repaired Zippo products are sent back (free of charge) using a Packet Post Service, should you wish to insure your return package, also enclose a cheque for £8.50 made payable to Zippo UK Ltd.

Note: A maximum of six lighters can be sent in for repair at any one time.

Caring for Your Candle/Utility Lighter

The Zippo Candle/Utility Lighter is warranted for three years from the date of purchase with proof of purchase. Please include £5 / 7 Euro for shipping and handling for each Utility Lighter sent.

Your Candle/Utility Lighter will be promptly repaired or replaced.

Utility Lighter repair:

STEP #1

  • Prepare your Candle/Utility lighter for shipment.
  • Take lighter outdoors and discharge gas following the instructions that came with your lighter or click here for instructions.

STEP #2

  • Package your Candle/Utility lighter securely in a jiffy bag or padded envelope with the information below and £5 / 7 Euro shipping and handling
  • Click here for a convenient form to include with your package or enclose a note with your name, address, telephone number, and brief description of the problem.
  • Include a copy of your sales receipt as proof of purchase with your package. 

Note: Repaired Zippo products are sent back (free of charge) using a Packet Post Service, should you wish to insure your return package, also enclose a cheque for £8.50 made payable to Zippo UK Ltd.
